Why did the settlers choose the site at Jamestown?

1.  The location of Jamestown could be easily defended from any attacks that may come from sea.  

2.  The ships were able to dock in the deep water surrounding the shore.

3.  The settlers believed that there was plenty of fresh water at this site.
